SEO content writing tools are necessary to improve the ranking value of the posts that you write. If you want your content to rank higher, you will need to take the following things into account:
- Proper image dimensions to ensure the page looks neat and orderly
- Image compression to avoid heavy load times
- A professional design that effectively conveys your message
- Correct title capitalization to enhance readability
- Source of free images to use if you don’t have your own
- WordPress SEO plugin to optimize the entire post or page for your keyword
- SEO content writing tools to check for broken links and prevent 404 errors
- Keyword research to identify a suitable keyword for your page or post
In this article, I will provide you with a set of SEO content writing tools that cover all of those needs.
Compress Images With SEO Content Writing Tools Such As iLoveIMG
One of the main issues that can impact the SEO of your content is the image size. For large images, the size should ideally be less than 150 kb.
The website iLoveIMG offers free SEO content writing tools that you can use to compress the images that you are going to upload. Simply click on ‘Compress IMAGE’ and upload your image to reduce its size.
Using Canva in Order to Design Images
Let’s face it. Not everyone is a designer, and not everyone has the funds to hire one. Canva is a site where you can easily design your own images for your posts. It has both a free version as well as a premium one.
After registering for a free account, you click on “create a design” in the upper right corner. Then you choose “custom size” and enter the desired dimensions of your image.
In order for the image to fit well into the page, the following dimensions will be the most optimal:
- 1200 x 900 px for the featured image of your post
- 1200 x 630 px for the pictures in the blog or the page
While in the editing section, you will be able to choose from on-site imagery or upload your own. In my opinion, the most useful part is the selection of elements for creating illustrations (arrows and similar) as well as the fonts.
Bonus Tip – Using Canva for Video Creation
SEO content writing tools are about more than just adding images. With Canva, you are also able to create videos quite easily. Personally, I sometimes like to create videos that act as sort of a “power point type” summary of what the content in the blog post will be about.
I then upload it to YouTube and subsequently embed it into the WordPress post. This will improve your content in two ways:
- Your audience will get an enticing video intro that will inspire them to keep reading
- Since you are posting the video on YouTube, you might also get some more traffic this way (if, for example, you add a link to your blog post in the video description)
Easier to Produce Video Using Online SEO Content Writing Tools
It takes a lot of processing power in order to create videos. Not everyone has access to hardware that is good enough to create professional videos that will look good when embedded into your blog posts.
We also have the matter of personal mobility. Many people who create digital content, whether it be blogs or otherwise, want to be mobile and to be able to sit at a café while doing their work.
In such cases, they often prefer to bring some simple equipment, like a Chromebook or something they are able to work with but which doesn’t necessarily have the most internal processing power.
Many people who work with SEO content writing tools on the go are also digital nomads traveling the world. I know that from personal experience. This means that they are often traveling through areas which might be beautiful, but where the security level is sort of lax
Therefore it might be a good idea to bring “lighter” and cheaper digital equipment.
Having access to something like Canva hence makes all the difference!
Canva Comes With Different Templates for Video Production
When creating videos for a blog we don’t really want to do everything from scratch. In Canva there are tools and themes that help with the video production, so that we don’t have to start with a blank canvas so to speak (no pun intended).
Even the free version comes with various backgrounds and illustrative elements, which are perfect when you want to create an embedded video for your post in order to give your readers a more enjoyable experience.
Having a video in your blog post also has some SEO value!
Some Canva Stuff Is Free, but There Is Also a Premium Version
That is something I especially like about working with SEO content writing tools such as Canva. You are still able to do a lot of useful things, even though you don’t have the premium version. A lot of the image- and video editing stuff can be done for free.
Then if you want to step it up a notch and get an even better advantage over your competition, you can always upgrade later.
Capitalize Your Titles With SEO Content Writing Tools
In order to improve readability you should capitalize both the main title as well as the subtitles (H2, H3, H4) correctly. There is a system for how you should do this. Now, if you don’t want to sit and have to discern manually which words should be capitalized, then there are SEO content writing tools that can help you with that.
You can enter your title on the site Capitalize My Title. The correct capitalization of your title will then be instantly copied to your clipboard. Then simply paste it into your post or page.
Editing Images With GIMP
These days it is more favorable to use next-gen images such as webp and avif on webpages. When you upload images to WordPress these days the images are automatically converted to webp format. This featured was introduced with WordPress 6.1.
That is a nice feature for anyone who doesn’t want to spend time converting images themselves for various reasons. However, there are a few things to consider:
- WordPress may compress the images to some extent, but if you want to optimize your images for SEO and improve your Google ranking, further compression may be necessary.
- There is a bit of a raging debate going on regarding which format is preferable (i.e. avif or webp). So if you upload your image to WordPress then you won’t be able to choose the format that you want. There is however a plugin that lets you deactivate the conversion to webp in WordPress, so that you can select your preferred format.
Compressing the Images “Manually” with SEO Content Writing Tools
If you are uploading your images to WordPress then you might want to compress them a bit more. That option doesn’t appear to be available on the above mentioned site iLoveIMG. You are not able to choose the compression level.
Fortunately, there are other SEO content writing tools for this purpose. One of my favorite tools for image editing is GIMP, which is a fully open-source software that provides essential features for proper image editing.
GIMP allows you to export images as a webp file and customize the compression level to achieve the desired file size. You can also export the image as an avif file.
Free Images From SEO Content Writing Tools Like Pixabay
Original images rank higher than, for example, stock photos. If the image isn’t published somewhere else, then this is seen as a sign that you are bringing some extra value to your visitors. In other words, original images are going to rank higher.
The pictures that you take yourself also have a social element to them. People feel more grounded with content that includes personal photos (as well as stories).
Images That You Can Use if You Don’t Want to Create Your Own
However, there might be various reasons why you don’t want to, or won’t be able to, upload original images:
- You haven’t got the time to take or create your own photos and images with SEO content writing tools.
- The equipment you have may not be sufficient. While most people have access to a camera on their smartphone, there are exceptions.
- You lack the necessary editing skills.
- The site that you are running has a business model where you create articles quickly in large quantities. If you are going to add original images to each and every one of those articles, that might cost you both time and money. In the end it will be a trade-off in regards to what is best suited for your business model.
If you find yourself in such a situation, there are SEO content writing tools like Pixabay where you can download and use suitable images.
Using Images From Wikimedia Commons
The above-mentioned site Pixabay is suitable for anyone who is looking for imagery with a certain design element.
But if you are searching for more “real world” images, you may want to take a look at Wikimedia Commons. This website also offers free-to-use images.
Imagery Offered by Wikimedia Commons
It is especially useful if you are looking for the following types of photos and images:
- Ones that are suitable for news sites
- Historic images
- Political photos and ones with current and contemporary events
- Plants and animals
- Paintings
Wikimedia Commons contains images that are more “raw” in nature and not as flashy as those that you find with SEO content writing tools such as Pixabay. Whether these images are suitable for you will depend on what kind of impact you are trying to achieve with your visuals.
The specific genre that you are working with is also something that plays a role. You might want imagery in some particular niche, such as finance, current events, music festivals, etc.
Crawl Your Site With Screaming Frog SEO Spider
When Googlebot is crawling your website, then it is not a positive sign if it exhibits the following errors:
- 301: Moved Permanently. This means that the page in question has been permanently moved. For the most part, there will be a redirect involved, but it is still a good practice to update the URL. This is a common error to see after a slug has been changed.
- 404: Not Found. This error is one of the more common ones that are encountered. It means that the resource couldn’t be found at all. The page that the URL is pointing to might be removed or the URL might have been wrongly entered to begin with.
It is worth mentioning that it can be rather time consuming to go through all of the pages on a website in order to check for these errors. In that case, you can use Screaming Frog SEO Spider in order to crawl your site and see if such anomalies are present.
You can use SEO content writing tools such as this spider/crawler in order to see which links have such errors. Then you take appropriate measures, such as adding the missing site or changing/updating the link.
Various Other Metrics in Screaming Frog SEO Spider
Screaming Frog also checks tons of other aspects of your website, such as:
- If your page titles are within the optimum range (between 30 and 60 characters)
- If the meta description of each page is within the optimum range (between 70 and 155 characters)
- The number and identity of the images that are above 100 kb, as large image files can impact your page speed
- Images that do not have alt text
These functions are just the tip of the iceberg of what you can do with SEO content writing tools such as Screaming Frog. Most of the functionalities are free, but there is also a paid version with additional features.
Moz Keyword Difficulty Checker
If you are looking to optimize your blog post, you will need a keyword difficulty checker tool. There are several of such SEO content writing tools to choose from, many of which require some kind of paid subscription for full access.
Some of them, like Moz for example, do offer you a few queries each month for free. Moz’s Keyword Difficulty Checker lets you do 10 free queries per month, after you register with your email.
Stats From Moz’s SEO Content Writing Tools
After querying their system with your chosen keyword, you will get the following stats:
- Estimated monthly search volume
- The difficulty score, indicating the level of difficulty to rank among the top ten results on the SERP
- Organic CTR (Click-through-rate), which is a metric in regards to the level of clicks that are available that do not get clouded by paid ads or similar distracting factors. It is measured by dividing organic clicks by organic impressions
- The priority score, which indicates if the keyword gives you optimal exposure by comparing volume with the difficulty score
Moz also offers some other free SEO content writing tools with limited usage. Another advantage, in my opinion, is that Moz’s webinars are pretty informative. To the best of my knowledge, these webinars are also free.”
Ahrefs’s Keyword Difficulty Checker
Ahrefs’s free version of their keyword difficulty checker is not as detailed as the SEO content writing tools offered my Moz. However, you do get unlimited queries. The query results also provide an estimate of the necessary backlinks needed to rank among the top 10 SERPs
On the downside, this checker seems to often have less data about keywords than would be desirable. At least, that is the conclusion I have come to myself after using it.
When using Ahrefs’s Keyword Difficulty checker I’ve been able to get an estimate for about half of my keywords.
SEO Content Writing Tools To Optimize Texts – Yoast SEO
There are a range of different SEO content writing tools you can use in order to optimize the text in your blog posts for Google ranking. One of the more popular ones is Yoast SEO, which helps you keep track of aspects such as:
- Keyword density
- Whether your keyword is occurring enough in the text
- Over-optimization
- Whether your keyword is occurring enough in the text
- If you have sufficient internal and external links
- Keyword in meta description
- Whether the keyword is present in your H2 and H2 headlines
- Previous use of the keyword in another post
- Inclusion of the keyword in image alt-texts
These are only some of the aspects that the free version of Yoast SEO checks for. Another interesting feature of the plugin is that it provides information about things you can do in order to improve the readability of the text.
Raising the Value of Your Content with SEO Content Writing Tools
By utilizing some of the above mentioned SEO content writing tools, you will be able to increase the SEO value of your posts – without having to spend a lot of money. And if you find that there is a tool that is particularly effective, you can always upgrade in order to squeeze more out of it.
